Each with it\u2019s own excitement and intricacies, there is something for everyone.<\/h1>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-f2ef500 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f2ef500\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-c7b7068\" data-id=\"c7b7068\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d1d9299 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d1d9299\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Canoe Sprint<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Canoe Sprint is fast, adrenaline-fuelled race to the line over a straight, flatwater course.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Paddlers race in a separate lane, over three&nbsp; distances \u2013 200m, 500m &amp; 1000m.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">There are kayak* events for men and women, in single (K1), double (K2) and four-person boats (K4).&nbsp;There are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uptest.co.nz\/canoeracing\/get-involved\/paracanoe\/\">Paracanoe&nbsp;<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">events where paddlers with impairments can compete in Kayak (K) and Va\u2019a (V).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Canoe Sprint is an Olympic and Paralympic event, and NZ has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uptest.co.nz\/canoeracing\/crnz\/olympicworldchampshistory\/\">proud history of success on the world stage.&nbsp;<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">Sprint Events in NZ<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">New Zealand has 4 major sprint regattas each season:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">Canoe Sprint National Championships (typically April at Lake Karapiro)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">Tikitapu 1 and Tikitapu 2 (December and February at Lake Tikitapu in Rotorua)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">South Island Championships (typically October in the South Island)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">In our New Zealand regattas we cater for all age groups from 12&amp;Under right through to Masters. line-height: normal;\"><strong>Ocean\/surf skis are long and sleek open-top kayaks designed for open ocean paddling, but are also well suited to all bodies of water and recreational\/fitness paddling.<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">But where the real magic of skis lie is in downwind paddling, where paddlers use the wind, waves and ocean swells to surf down waves in an adrenaline-filled open-water adventure. Downwind races are typically longer distance events.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 7.5pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">In ocean racing, it is not necessarily the fittest or strongest paddler who wins the event, but the one who is able to master and make the most of the conditions.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\">\u00a0Events in NZ<\/span><\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">Canoe Racing NZ coordinates the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paddler.nz\/darcy-price\">Darcy Price NZ Ocean Ski<\/a>\u00a0Series- a national points\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">series made up of 8 independent ocean ski events, run all across the country each summer.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><br \/>Important note: Due to the nature of ocean ski paddling, it often comes with the most safety risk for paddlers. It is often the selection event for that year\u2019s ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">In the winter, there is national\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paddler.nz\/kayakkrazy\">10km Winter Series\u00a0<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">with events hosted by clubs around the country and culminates in the 10km National Championships.
