The 2020-21 Darcy Price Series will now kick-start with New Zealand\u2019s flagship surfski race the Vaikobi King and Queen of the Harbour race on December 5.<\/p>\n
The reshuffle has been made following the announcement in September that the original opening event for the series – the Poor Knight Crossing in Tutukaka – would not be an official Darcy Price Series event as originally planned because of Covid-19 restrictions at that time.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, the remainder of the series will provide many highlights, beginning with the King and Queen of the Harbour event in Auckland\u2019s stunning Waitemata Harbour.<\/p>\n
The James Bhutty Moore-morial event in Pilot Bay, Mount Maunganui will represent the second race of the series on February 6 next year.<\/p>\n
Two weekends later – February 20-21 – the series heads to the South Island as the Queen and King of the Bay event will be held in Kaiteriteri Bay in conjunction with the South Island Surfski Championships.<\/p>\n
The fourth race of the Darcy Price Series will be the return of the popular 12km Virtual Challenge \u2013 which takes place from March 1-31 next year.<\/p>\n
The series will then climax on April 3 (Easter Saturday) with the Heads to the Harbour race in Whakatane \u2013 which will double as the New Zealand Surfski Championships. The 2020 race was cancelled because of the global pandemic, so a return to the stunning East Coast location next Easter will provide a fitting finale to this year\u2019s Darcy Price Series.<\/p>\n
